4 - Raising the head
On the Epson D78, this isn't too hard - There is no permanent link between the
bottom plastic chassis (holding the paper feed) and the print head carriage.
You can see the basic idea. Stack washers up, screw them down on both sides.
You will need to replace the screw with something slightly longer. Also, the
alignment post will no longer engage - Screw that screw down tight!

You may find this easier if you first remove the drive belt for the head.


Screw the side supporting screws back up.


Reattach the power / servo.

Now, your carrier has enough space to pass unrestricted through the newly
flat feed path. There's still a problem, but we'll deal with that in
6 - Feed solution
