3 - Carving

Now, the fun bit! All we need to do here is to make room for the flat paper path, rather than the default bendy path of the Epson D78 as it comes from the factory. You do this by removing everything that gets in the way.
There are not very many pictures here - This all depends on what tools you have available.

A dremel is recommended, however, this will raise a large amount of dust.
The way I did it was with a soldering iron (low temperature), a pair of pliers and lots of brute force and ignorance.

You will need to cut and glue the support for the power supply. Don't worry - It's unlikely you'll need to replace it.

The only parts to watch out for are:
1. Don't cut too much! You're looking for a flat paper path and nothing more.
2. Refer to Feed Tray to see how much less you SHOULD cut than I have.
3. Be careful at the right hand side of the paper roller in this picture. The plastic forms part of the support for the roller, even though this is not obvious before disassembling.

These pictures show the end result of the hacking. You will notice I left the right pillar and some structure intact at this point. This was removed later. Your aim is to clear the section between the two pillars, to the level of the path between the rollers minus the feed tray. Again, if in doubt, leave trimming until the next stage.

Done! Wasn't that satisfying! Now, onto 4 - Raising
